Larry B. Crites, 71, died at 2:40 p.m. Sept. 14, 2007, at Lima Manor after a six-month struggle with pancreatic cancer. He was born Aug. 7, 1936, in Lima to Roy E. and Mildred I. Coon Crites, who preceded him in death. On June 5, 1957, he married D. Elaine Miller, who survives. Mr. Crites was a 1954 graduate of Shawnee High School and held a Master's Degree in School Administration and Counseling from Bowling Green State University. He retired after 32 years in the Lima schools system as a teacher, coach and guidance counselor. He was a captain in the U.S. Army and served as company commander at the St. Marys and Lima Army Reserve Centers. Survivors include a son, Randy B. (Cheryl L.) Crites; a daughter, Kelly L. Ivison; three granddaughters, Amy T. Ho, Sarah K. Arthur and Meghan P. Crites; and a grandson, Jacob E. Crites. Graveside services will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at Greenlawn Cemetery, Elida. The Rev. William Cronk will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Westside United Methodist Church.
