You Owe It To The World

Reflective Ballad        Robb Murray Music, (c) 2002

Sound of light thunderstorm, wind chimes

(oboe, piano intro)

1

"You owe it to the world" - it finally hit me

A funny thought  -- I'd only felt before        [vibration]

It took so many years - - to come and fit me

Like a key supplied to pass a secret door

2 - oboe now accompanies

"You owe it to the world" - to waken happy    [harp]

To feel the sun, and know it shines for you     [triangle plays g1]

The fondest dreams you have -- are meant to happen

And you owe it to the world to make them true.

Refrain 1

So heed the inspiration of your mind

The highest voice in all of humankind.

3

We only have so long - the end is certain

Our life is brief - an eyeblink and we're gone.

Unveil  what’s in your heart -- and raise the curtain

For we only have today to sing our song.

Refrain-2 -- harp streams

Claim the dream that makes you glad you are alive

And feel your laughter swelling deep and rich inside

4 [bump up a key] –choral ah

We owe it to our life -- on earth together

To pass along the depth of heart we have received

So those who follow on - into forever --

Feel a more fulfilling life because we lived

strings – coronet plays descant
We owe it to the flow  -- of human lifetimes -

To leave a song within the stars' eternal void

And laugh, so all who go  -- celestial pathways

Feel vibrations of the love we have enjoyed

 [tympani or thunderclap]

       Refrain 3  -- tympani

There’s no more time to wait, so let your colors show --

And take your aim upon the highest things you know.

 [violin streams trail\

melody plays, descant is sung at half-lines

You’re the one to make it possible -- ahh

Run and catch and make it possible! – ah!

. . Because you owe it to the world . . .  (tympani)

first ah – query

second  ah – triumphal – going out on the tide, sound of sea bells and ocean birds
