Purpose of the Intranet Site (8/28)
The intranet site was created as a resource for the Information Management Group's (IMG)
employees to quickly access
information regarding their specific department and/or the company.
Intranet Design (8/28)
I hand-coded the entire site using HTML-Kit. IMG gave me total freedom to design the
site with only one restriction - navigation would be performed
through a navigation bar on the top of each page.
Intranet User Base (8/24)
IMG employees consisted of internal staff, trainers, consultants - approximately 70
employees.
Levels of experience with regard to HTML, JavaScript, ASP exposure (8/24)
I created the Intranet site using ASP pages. The navigation bar was an include file that
appeared on every major page (ie. @30 pages). There were an additional 20-30 content pages
(eg. President's articles, internal communications, resource information, etc). JavaScript
was used on the site to include the date and employee's name on the home page. The phone
list was generated from a database.
Sites I Maintained (8/18)
I maintained 4 sites: intranet site, IMG site (www.imginc.com),
MIDG site (www.midg.org), and Central Illinois
MIDG (centil.midg.org).
How Did I Handle The Maintenance? (8/4)
I received requests from the President, COO, Managers, and others to update information
on the multiple sites. I had to choose the priority requests and complete the work in a
timely fashion. I worked with the Facilities Manager to report on the most current company news
(ie. "Headlines"). I also created the Charity committee (with a cooresponding webpage)
and worked with the HR Manager to allocate funds to IMG employees involved in charity
activities.
